Why should I use GoBarcodes?

Do you host a community sale event where you sell items on behalf of others? Are you fed up with the time and stress of dealing with the admin that goes with it? GoBarcodes has been designed to make this whole process quicker, more accurate and stress-free.

The GoBarcodes system will remove the time-consuming and fiddly job of having to add up all the sellers’ tickets after the sale, while speeding up the checkout operation during sales day. It also offers a very useful database so you can easily see who is selling what.

Sellers love GoBarcodes too because it makes their job easier. Plus, they can see what they’ve sold at the touch of a button. It's easy for sellers and easy for hosts.

Is GoBarcodes easy to use?

Yes. We really think so, and it’s the users that tell us that. Gone are the evenings sorting paper tickets and pouring over spreadsheets, gone is the stress of making sure the takings match what’s been sold. Check out the videos to see what we mean!

Who already uses GoBarcodes?

The Aberdeen UK branch of the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) has been using GoBarcodes successfully for over five years. In fact, it’s why GoBarcodes was developed in the first place – they helped design it, so you can be sure it’s totally fit for purpose. Just watch the videos to see how positive the volunteers are!

Do I need an Internet connection during the event?

No. You download the event database prior to sale day on each of the till laptops. Everything works off-line during the day. At the end of the sale, at a convenient time for you, you can upload each till and instantly view the results on GoBarcodes. The system has been specifically designed to work off-line, as we know from past experience that getting a reliable internet connection in a hall with 400 other devices is hard to achieve!

How does invoicing work?

We will issue you with a standard PDF invoice which you can forward to your accounts team. This can be paid either by bank card, or by BACS transfer. Look no further – this traditional post-sale reconciliation headache is totally solved with GoBarcodes!

Is GoBarcodes for table-top selling?

It’s not been designed for this, but there's nothing stopping you from using it this way. GoBarcodes is ideal for sales events where sellers just drop off their labelled items at the venue. The event team then sells the items on their behalf scanning each item at the tills and managing the transaction. The seller doesn't need to be there on sale day. Each seller’s proceeds are automatically calculated after the sale. You just need to transfer the proceeds to each seller in your normal way.

What barcode scanners can I use?

The barcodes on the labels are called 1D, just like the ones in the supermarket. So, any barcode scanner that reads 1D barcodes using the standard called ‘CODE 128’ will work. This is a very common barcode standard. Watch our video on barcode scanners and you’ll see there’s nothing to be frightened of. Barcode scanners act like a keyboard in that they just type the numbers for you. This saves you entering them from the keyboard but is much quicker and more accurate. Brilliant!

What is Host Total in the Event Summary?

This figure indicates proceeds from selling carrier bags and/or donations (you have both these options on the till). So, if a customer buys a carrier bag for 50p and donates £2, the Host Total will show £2.50.

Does Gobarcodes connect to my bank account?

No. There’s no banking required with GoBarcodes. As the event host, you take the proceeds in the normal way and distribute them at a convenient time after the event. GoBarcodes helps by summarising each seller’s sold items, so you know their proceeds from the sale.
